Skype is a software application which allows you to make calls over the internet. Calls to other skype users anywhere in the world are free. Calls to landline or mobile phones can be made at a nominal price. If you have a Smart Phone with Skype Capability you can make your calls on the move.
So why do I rate Skype as a must have network marketing tool?
It’s Free!
If you are starting out in network marketing, you will probably want to keep costs to a minimum. If you are marketing on a world wide scale and don’t want to make costly calls to international numbers, you need to have Skype in your network marketing tool kit.
There is a little misconception that all skype calls need to be made with the use of webcams. And whilst you can make calls with or without one; you can make calls Skype user to another Skype user for free.
You can also send files, instant messages and screenshare with clients, prospects and family. You can pay $2.95 per month and have the ability to call any phone number and talk for as long as you want to, and you can also forward your Skype calls to any phone. Yikes!
International!
So as I stated above, skype gives you the ability to connect with people all over the world. Why is this important for your network marketing business? Well unless you have a really old school sponsor, you might have noticed something call the World Wide Web! Right now social media, video communication and referral marketing are the three biggest trends, so if you are using any or all of these methods in your business you will probably be connecting with people from all over the world.
Grow your business on an international level with skype! Its the simplest and easiest way to connect with people who want to do business! If you don’t know how, ask me.
Team Talk
Probably one of my favourite features of skype, is how easy it is to hold three way calls (or more) with other members of your team, your upline, your downline, your prospects, you pretty much name it!
There are lots of benefits of holding three way calls with prospects these are some of my favourites:
- They allow prospects to feel part of a team/community right from word GO!
- Prospects can ask questions you might not be able to answer.
- Prospects get a different perspective from some else.
- You can mastermind and come up with creative ideas together.
Furthermore, Skype allows you to build unlimited groups of people in the same team, meaning if you are not about (especially if you are in different timezones) there will always be team members to answer questions, bounce ideas off, to find out the latest news and to offer training and support.
I cannot stress how important communities are in building successful businesses. Skype is the perfect platform to do just that.
Personal Mentoring and Coaching
As well as the community and team environments Skype can provide. It is also a fantastic tool to offer one on one coaching. Take your time with new clients and prospects, teach people how to do something new. Screen share, share files and have fun.

Thank you for your posts, they are really full of useful tips! I’ve already known about the benefits of Skype, but I often have difficulties in explaining the benefits of Skype to people who are not technically inclined and don’t know anything about VoIP technology. Here in this post I found a perfect video of visual explanation of what actually Skype is about. Now I’ll be showing it to everyone who asks me what Skype is ;D Thanks once again!

Claire

I like the fact that you can mastermind on Skype just like you do on a conference call. If you can share ideas and it answers your prospects friends question across the country and he becomes your customer and/or joins you in business. Then it is a miracle!!

Hi Beth,
Thanks for this! I’m not much of a Skyper but after reading this, I might do it more. If not for business then a great way to chat with my family that’s out of state. What a great way to get multiple people together and do a live brainstorming session.
Thank you for sharing!

LOVE the Skype video! Some people are just so darn creative!!
I’m with some of your other commentors — I would be lost without Skype now! Once you use it, you’ll never go back. It’s such a useful tool to have, seasoned or “newbie” marketer, it’s a must!
It’s functionality is amazing! I have friends who aren’t fond of speaking on the phone, so we group chat as well (as opposed to group talk) … it’s really got so many uses!! I don’t know what took me so long to get it, but I’m glad I’m finally there!!
Thanks again for such great content Beth!!

Beth,
This is a great review about Skype.
I did a review a few months ago that was featured on Better Networker. Since then Skype has made some incredible advancements.
I use it on my Blackberry and all my PCs. My kids even have it on their Playstation Portables.
I love Skype and everyone should be on it especially if they are working a home business.
Thanks for sharing Beth!
