Record your Sound

You may find your camera has a built-in microphone that provides a good sound quality for your videos, but more often than not you’ll need to invest in an external microphone. The best mic for one-to-one video is a lapel/lav mic.

This kind of mic gives great audio and is very easy to conceal on camera. You can use a variety of other mics such as boom mics or directional mics, but just like with your camera and tripod you’ll need to think about what audio you’re trying to capture and what mic is best for your video.

Get Editing

If you’ve been feeling a little pessimistic about the whole bed-sheets, cheap cameras, lamps and make-shift tripods then your editing process is where you can really make your online videos pop.You can get hold of free editing software if you’re a Windows or a Mac user, which are very handy, but you might want to invest in an affordable piece of paid software.

Such software will give you a few more tools and will still be quite easy to use. Altering your contrast/brightness will boost that backdrop of yours making it look like the slick background you were hoping for. Facebook is a great way to remind you of your team member’s birthdays. Add you team to a special list on Facebook so that you can see what they are up to and you can interact with them whenever you are online.

Be sure to congratulate your team on any sales they make, when they recruit new members, or reach new milestones in their business. E-mail them, send them valuable information and send them motivational thoughts.  Even if they don’t always reply, keep up with the communication, so when they really need you, they will know that you are there for them.

Communicate Clearly and Concisely

If you want to switch off your team mates and make them run a mile, then sending them a ridiculously difficult, long and technical message is a sure fire way of succeeding.

Before you send any message, whether it is in an e-mail, message on Facebook, video or tweet, make sure your message is easy to understand.  Your communication should be well written, simple, clear, concise and should do exactly what you intended it to do.

If you are contacting your team about a topic that is complicated such as compensation or binary plans. Try your best to summarize the facts as best you can and then make a link to the corporate example….that way you can’t be responsible for confusing them, in fact it will be apparent that you tried to help them understand.

Remember to use spelling and grammar checks and proofread everything. If you are sharing important and valuable information with your team it is sometimes better to give them a call or chat with them on Skype. Sometimes things just make more sense when you can thrash it out on the phone. Learning how to communicate well with your team will go a long way to building you a successful business.

Communicate Consistently

Consistent communication is one of the most important aspects of all. Communicating regularly will produce the best results.  If you are going to be away for a while whether for vacation, new baby, moving home or other event, make sure your team are well aware of this and let them know when you will be back.

Even better, make sure they have a relationship with other team members and your own up-line so that they always have someone to contact should they have any questions.

You could consider a weekly newsletter, a new blog post, text message, Skype messages, Facebook messages or telephone call.  Anything you can think of, let your team know that they are an important part of your business and that you appreciate them.

Check your conversations

This comes back to your commitment to communicate.  If you send a message out to your team and they then send you a message back, make sure you take the time to answer any questions.  If they want to schedule sometime with you, make sure you make time for them.

Don’t just send a message out and then not make yourself available.  Communication is a two way process, you wouldn’t be in a personal relationship with someone that didn’t answer you when you asked them something.  The same is true of the relationships with your team.

In a world of social media, social networks, e-mail, video communication, telecommunication and the internet, you really have no excuse not to be able to communicate with you team.  In fact I bet your cell phone is within reach of you right now, you might even have Skype and you e-mail account open on your desktop or you might have heard of little known sites such as Facebook and Twitter!

Sometimes we become so focused on being a success in our businesses that we try to do too much.  We try to learn all the different marketing methods; we buy every training course, join every opportunity and never actually get anywhere at all.  It is not unusual for this to happen, it is just the way we are programmed and it’s the instant information world we have come to know.

There is information everywhere and you want to know it all.  The thing is, while you crave more and more information you are not doing any of the ‘do’ to get stuff done.  I have learnt that to be a success we have to be focused. Not just focused on what we want to achieve but focused on how we are going to do that.  So for example if you want to be a successful network marketer is, spending 5 minutes on the phone, 5 minutes, blogging, 5 minutes, tweeting, 5 minutes, writing an article, 5 minutes, learning a script, 5 minutes doing a course really focussed?

My biggest piece of advice is to pick one method that will see you making progress and stick at it.  Think about building a wall for a moment.  Which of these situations do you think will build the wall the quickest? 

Building a Wall

Yes…there will always be some instructions you need to cover in the beginning, like reading a script but after that you just got to pick up the phone and have a go.  When we stay focussed and determined we begin to grow our crafts in ways that you could never imagine. 

One of my favourite role models Will Smith once said “skills can only be developed by beating on our craft…you have to be dedicated to your craft”  That means be dedicated to getting really good at something, don’t learn a bit and jump on to the next shiny thing that catches your eye.

You can do whatever you want to do, you just have to believe it can happen and don’t stick with what is realistic, and People thought it was unrealistic for man to fly and stand on the surface of the moon…yet someone believed enough to make it happen. 

I don’t know about you, but I want to be that someone who dared to dream and lived to make a difference to this world.  Here is Will Smith at his best.  Be who you want to be and don’t let anyone stop you. (Not even Humpty Dumpty!)

And that’s exactly what you should think of your blog as.  A place you can call home. A place where you can invite friends and acquaintances to get to know you better, a place where you can hang out with people who are just like you.  A place where you can decorate and make it feel your own. Somewhere you can hang your certificates and achievements all over the wall.

Think of your blog posts, your videos, your pictures, your testimonials, your services, your products as the wallpaper of your home; that make your blog come to life. That show the world what you are all about and what you have achieved.

Be proud of who you are, the more authentic you are the more people will warm to you and want to know even more about you or your business opportunity, service or skills.

Do you ever feel overwhelmed by the busyness of your life, your relationships, kids, bills, home based business, housework?

Yes???……..Well you’re not alone.

Recently, I have been forced to re-evaluate many areas of my life.  You may remember a blog post I did recently entitled the ‘Simple Life’ in which I explain some measures I have taken to de-stress my life.

And so today, I wanted to share with you another practical method that I have been using to better manage my time and which has enabled me to complete some of the many tasks that have been sat on my never-ending ‘to do’ list. 

The fact is, my ‘to do’ list was just that, ‘never-ending’. I never got to the end of it because new tasks were continuously being added to it.  Whilst a lot can be said for being able to multi-task, the ability to be realistic also plays a crucial role here.

So let’s do that…ask yourself this question.  Is it ever going to be possible  for you to get all the things on your to-do list completed in any one day?

Now ask yourself this question…How do you think you would feel if you could complete 3 tasks on your to do list everyday without feeling, stressed, overwhelmed, rushed and exhausted?….. Sound good?

Let me share with you the ‘Place Mat Process’.  This is actually process #10 in the book ‘Ask and It is Given’ by Esther and Jerry Hicks.  I have been using this process for about 2 months now and I have to say, the results have been staggering.  So let me explain the process and what you can to do to tackle your to do list.

Take a piece of paper and draw a line straight down the middle.  On one side of the paper write the heading. ‘Things that I will do today’ and on the other side write the words, ‘Things the Universe will do today’

Now… under the ‘Things you will do today’ column, make a list of all the tasks, you know you will be able to complete today. Be completely realistic. If you think you might get started with something today, but you have no intention of finishing it, then place this task under the ‘Universe to do today’ side.

Esther and Jerry Hicks don’t specify how many tasks you should place under your ‘to do’ header.  By and large this will vary depending on the amount of spare time you have and what your other commitments are.

Take me for example, I work full-time and have a 5 year old, I am a blogger and an internet marketer in my spare time. I literally try to steal time to work on my business wherever humanly possible…and so I only ever put 3 things on my to do list.

This might not seem like a lot, but believe me, I can achieve them easily, they do not overwhelm me and completing them daily gives me new confidence and a sense of achievement each and every day.

My universe column is always jam packed with things that I would like to be working on, but for now I have taken control and delegated them to the universe to do.

The diagram below gives you an idea of the kind of tasks

Now imagine if all of the tasks on the Right hand side (under the Universe column ) had been under my column.  It is easy to understand how we can get overwhelmed and stressed when we have so much on our plates.  I used to want to do everything all at once, but now I enjoy taking my time, knowing that I am accomplishing new tasks each day.

Remember, life isn’t a race, you are not one day going to have completed everything you ever wanted to do in life, ticked everything off your to do list and finally be able to sit back in your La-Z-Boy for the rest of time.  Instead, saviour every minute on this planet and appreciate the time it takes to complete and learn something new.

Now I said that I have been using this method for 2 months, so I wanted to share with you, some of the things I have been able to accomplish. Sometimes the tasks on the Universe side have somehow been accomplished with no direct input from me.  Either because someone has done it for me, or it simply became less important.  ‘getting a brand new red car’ is a standing item under the universe column and I am hoping the universe will present one to me shortly.

These are just a selection of the tasks I have been able to accomplish in and amongst working full-time and being a busy mum.

• Sort out optin boxes

So as you can see I have been a busy bee.  To make it easier to log and track what you have been able to achieve I would recommend you buy a few notebooks. I have also found it helpful to sit down with my notebook just before I go to sleep and jot down my 3 tasks,  placing everything else under the universe heading.

Doing this each night also means that you have already set your goals for the day and you can get going with them as soon as you wake up.  Plus a notebook with lots of ticks inside, is a great visual aid for confidence boosting!!!

Remember: if you are going to do this, make sure that you are realistic with your time.  If you can do 3 things, GREAT.  If you can do 5 things EVEN BETTER.  Avoid adding everyday chores to your list like making breakfast, or taking the kids to school, you are going to do this anyway. Make your tasks things that will take you one step closer to where you want to be in life, whether it’s gaining new knowledge, solving a problem or just something you have always wanted to tackle.

Whether you like it or not, the change is coming and Facebook has announced that the Facebook timeline will be rolled out to all 800 million users over the next few weeks.  But don’t worry you will have 7 days to edit any information you don’t want out in the public domain once it is rolled out or from whenever you opt in to the new timeline prior to roll out.

If you haven’t yet opted to move to the timeline you will be notified at the top of your home page when it arrives on your account. 

So what is Facebook Timeline anyway? 

Well Facebook says its an easy way to rediscover the things you have shared.  It is also an easy way to pin point those special times in your life like, when you were born, when you graduated from high school, got engaged, married and more.

The ‘Introducing the Facebook Timeline’ page walks you through the key features,  this includes; your cover, your stories and your apps.  When you first move over to Timeline your profile will be pre-populated with some of your top photos and stories and you are free to hide or highlight whatever you like.

Reassuringly only the people who you originally shared your content with can see what’s on your Facebook Timeline but you can also go back and change those settings if need be.  Facebook has not stated when they will be rolling out the timeline for professional and business pages so you have some time before you have to sort that out too! (That’s if they do at all)

What is your mind doing to you right now?  Is is letting you fulfil your dreams? Does it shout words of encouragement and positivity when things are tough?

In simple terms the mind is made up of the conscious and subconscious mind.  The subconscious stores memories from our distant past, these memories emerge at certain times in our life, making us react in a certain preconditioned manner, which is sometimes not appropriate.

Have you ever seen red or flown of the handle when someone has said something to you, only for them to think you are acting irrational, yet you have no real understanding why you are reacting that way at all?  Perhaps it is something from your childhood or a suppressed feeling coming to the fore.

If you are consciously wanting to create money and wealth for yourself but your subconscious mind is saying you don’t deserve to, then more often than 99.9% of the time your subconscious will win out.  You might not think you believe you are good enough, you might have been told at school you are average, that your family has never had a lot of money, that you always just get by on what you have, perhaps your parents were always in debt and you just don’t know any other way.

But let me tell you this, it doesn’t matter what you were told or brought up to believe as a child, if you start to believe in yourself NOW, others will believe in you too and soon you will start to see the results.

Now try this little task.

1. Grab a piece of paper and write down some of the limiting beliefs that people said to you as a child or whilst at high school.

These were some of mine:
Skinny,
Ugly,
Spotty,
Too Tall (huh…I am only 5ft3)
Stupid,

2. Now write down some of your achievements or things that make you positive, like films, music or a memory.

These are some of mine:
Good school grades,
Did well at University
I am a great mum
Bought my own home

3.) Now look at the list of negative comments for one last time, crumble the piece of paper up and throw it in the bin or rip it up, do what ever makes you feel good and then get rid if it forever. (Don’t burn it because you really shouldn’t play with fire!)

These negative thoughts are what I like to call CRUMPLE BUTTONS, they are words that people say to us and which make us feel small and insecure but these limiting thoughts get planted in our subconscious for the rest of time unless we release them.

Start practising positive thoughts. Whenever a voice comes in your head that is self-limiting say straight back to it… ‘NO I CAN DO THIS’ and grab you list of positive thoughts to remind you how amazing you really are.

Here is my happy song…I don’t know why I just love ELO and I love the 1970s.

Now you know what I rock to when I am alone in my bedroom.

Being unique is difficult to achieve and it’s even harder to teach someone how to be unique, but I thought you might enjoy a few tips on how you can start your search for search for uniqueness.

• Personality – Your personality is everything, try to not conform to the norm.  Go against everything your English Teachers taught you, be different, make people laugh through your writing, do what makes you happy and others will think you are great too.  Seriously…sounds simple, but being Authentic is King!

• What’s your Niche? – There are lots of Social Media and Internet Marketing blogs about.  There is nothing wrong with this, but if you are going to go down this route, you might want to have a Unique Selling Point. If you do happen to have a crazy past-time, skill or gift, why not shout about it and give your blog the edge.

• Design – If you are serious about being a success blogger, you might want to invest in some custom designed graphics.  There’s some great services out-there at reasonable prices.  I recommend any of the following.

• Be a Character – If you think you can pull it off, why not go one step further and build a whole character around your niche for your blog.  There are lots of great examples out there of people who have been successful doing this.

• Creativity is Key – I’ve said this in previous posts and the fact still remains.  Readers have short attention spans and get bored of bland text on the page, mix up your posts with images, videos, spoken audio or music.

• Well Researched – There are lots of bloggers who do short sharp and focused blogs giving personal opinions and past experience, this is great and there is nothing wrong with this, but some of the most valued and well respected bloggers are those that go that extra mile. Who evaluate products and services in detail and who are not afraid to go against the grain.  Consider doing some of these types of posts every now and again and you will gain dedicated readers for life.

• Community Friendly – The whole point of a blog, is that its interactive and community focused, but many bloggers over look this.  When bloggers first start out, they eagerly await that first comment on their post and then when it happens forget to interact and build relationships with their readers.  Make your blog as easy as possible for readers to subscribe, comment, syndicate, contact you, add value and ask questions.

• It’s all in the Giving – Being a blogger is one thing, but being a real blogger is helping other bloggers to succeed.  Reading other peoples blogs, will give you inspiration and ideas, it will help build your credibility in your niche and will make you stand out.  One of the best ways to contribute to other bloggers is join a Tribe, like TSA Mastery.

Don’t ever let someone tell you, you can’t do something.  If you have a dream you have to protect it.  A good friend of mine Edward Elliot would even say you have to share it to make it come into fruition.

If you want something, go get it.  Anything is possible, whoever you are, where ever you are, whatever your circumstances.  You just have to keep at it.
