One of the hardest things for any blogger is creating content for their blog.  This is difficult in the beginning because it is not always clear what your niche is or what they should be focusing on.  I wanted to share a few ideas that will hopefully be more positive and less likely to have you give up before you even get started. 

You don’t need to be a guru.

Many new bloggers think they need to know their subject matter in great detail before they can start to write content for their blog.  I am here to say that this is not so.  It is important to Remember that we all have something unique to offer and what is important; especially if you want to grow and nurture your blogging abilities, is to share what you know, how ever little and put you own spin on it.

The more you write the more you will become comfortable in your own writing style. It is also important to remember that you don’t need to write lots and lots.  If you want to hold your readers attention, it’s a good idea to keep it short anyway or think about using other mediums like video, pictures, info-graphics and audio.

Whilst some bloggers may have a blog post in mind with a clear beginning, middle and end, it is OK to experiment. Start with a topic and just write, keeping it flowing until it comes to a logical end then create some attention grabbing title.

Listen, Read , Watch

The thing about great content is that it usually comes from some knowledge lodged somewhere in our minds, mixed with experience and a little bit of a personal spin on the topic.  The reason great content doesn’t always flow, is because you aren’t keeping your mind and inspiration fresh.  It is therefore really important  to keep your eyes, ears and mind open to new ideas.  

You can do this by spending a small percentage of your time reading new material, books, other blogs, listening to inspirational or personal development type audio or watching videos.  There isn’t a magic formula but find the learning method that works best for you and start to absorb some new information and you will be able to create more and more great content.

Blog Daily

This might seem like a really strange thing to say, but actually committing yourself to a blogging schedule will actually get you in to the habits of being a successful blogger.  It will also help you develop your imagination and really build you leverage in terms of creating more traffic to your site.

Keep a look out for blogging challenges.  They normally last for 30 days and are a great way to get you off to a good start.  You will be surprised at how much you already know and the knowledge you have that you can blog about.

Where you can get more ideas

As well as reading other blog posts, videos on You Tube or a book or too, I also like to use some really cool sites that have all kinds of information, that you can browse.  I especially like Alltop, Mashable and Problogger.  But depending on your niche, do a search for some quality sites that are of interest and start creating some new content from what you find,

In an era when we have so much time-saving technology at our fingertips. When there is information all around us? How is it, that we sometimes find it so hard to find clarity to what we are looking for in life?

If we want to accomplish things but we are finding it hard to find clarity – It could be because of a lack of commitment and action. If you want to achieve things in life you will need to be clear about what you want the end game to be. What do you WANT and what is your WHY?

When you have a powerful attachment to what you want to achieve ….the accomplishment will almost certainly come on its own.

What is getting in the way of you getting clear right now?

There are three sets of feelings that stop you from having clarity:

fear,
resistance,
distractions!!

Clarity is un-dependable it comes like a bolt of lighting and we never know when its coming. But what if I told you that you could take simple steps to help clarify things when the going gets tough?

1. Press Pause, STOP….Do nothing for 15 minutes everyday, to start thinking about what you want.
2.Pay attention to yourself.
3.Ask questions about yourself?
4. Ask more questions getting deeper into your fear, resistance and distraction. Don’t be afraid to ask yourself these questions if you want to unblock whatever it is that’s stopping you from getting clear.
5. Write things down to clarify your feelings, and goals,
6. Be willing to receive the answers.

Try to work on your WHY the more passionate and powerful you feel about your WHY the more likely you are to take real action.

In this post I want to share with you, how you can change your mindset and learn how not to be a perfectionist and still be a success in the internet marketing industry (or any industry for that matter!)

Beth’s Scale of Success

This is my scale of success. 1 is Procrastination through to 7. Perfectionism. Whilst we perfectionists strive for the best.  We either find that we achieve little (because we never get started for fear of screwing up) or once in a while something fantastically amazing happens.

The trick to achieving success is to first simplify your life as much as possible and secondly just get going.  The rest of the scale includes: 2, Dabbling, 3.Habit, 4.Routine, 5.Passion, 6.Obsession.

Dabbling:This is where you dip your toe in the water every now and again, but rarely stick at anything long enough to accomplish anything of any great significant success.

Habit:The word habit has for many a negative connotation.  Whilst it means you are starting to do something more often, it usually is haphazard, uncoordinated, with no clear plan, often becoming a habit by accident.  It becomes part our lives before we have given much thought to the consequences.  Take for example, bad habits like smoking, affairs, excessive drinking.

Routine:This is the next step on from habit, allowing the individual to take control of the habit.  Routine allows planning, focus, the ability to learn and grow, scheduling and time management.  Routine can both cultivate and grow positive habits like personal development but also limit negative habits like reducing dependency on drugs or providing regular time for rehabilitation.

Passion:After routine comes passion.  Finding our passions can sometimes take time and often fits hand in hand with routine. Learning to follow our passions, ensuring we have regular time to pursue our dreams is desirable for a fulfilled life.

Obsession:Again, like habit, obsession has negative connotations. Obsession is where our passions often become overbalanced and start to consume our everyday life.  Spending excessive time doing something we love often distracts us from spending time with the ones we love and we get labelled as selfish, uncaring or unkind.

Perfection: Whilst perfection is on the surface good, perfection usually is the result of obsessive and repetitive behaviour, take for example a number one athlete who has less time for his family and friends in pursuit of a sporting achievement.  Once we become so good at something we often feel we have to be perfectionists in everything we do.

In my opinion, to be successful the best place to be on my success scale is somewhere betweenPassion and Routine.Whilst Habit and Routine is not a bad place to be, do you really want to become a RABBIT?!!!

Now here comes the magic part.  After creating my new scale of success in my head and producing my ideal ‘state of being’ as being somewhere between passion and routine, I wanted very much to coin a new phrase to describe this place on my scale. ‘Passtine’and ‘Rousion’didn’t really do it for me and so call it insanity, genius or plain old intuition I set about the next half hour trying to create a meaningful anagram of “passion and routine”.

Now be grateful people because you almost got‘Onerous Pianist’a disgusting ‘urinates poison’ or maybe as a last resort a painstakingly all too troublesome ‘Sinus Operation’ OUCH!!….

No No, I couldn’t be so cruel to this new ‘state of being’ I had just created….but then, as if by magic I started to spell out on my notepad….wait for it…..S.E.N.I.O.R (good so far)…...U.T.O.P.I.A.N.SOoh I like it!

So what the heck does this mean?  Well Utopiais the name for an ideal community; a society without evils such as poverty and misery.  A place where there are few laws because there is no need.  There are no criminal acts, nor dangerous situations, there are no intolerances.  In fact a Utopian is a society that actively encourages tolerance of all religions.

Utopianism in many cultures refers to a social norm where human kind is better when it’s in its most primitive state, without distractions and complications.  When fulfilment is easily achieved through ones love with nature, culture, passion and continuous pursuit (routine) of happiness, WOW!

Is my discovery of this coincidence, law of attraction, an over active imagination?  All I will say is this.  If you are following your passion in life with regular routine, you are in my opinion a Senior Utopian.

If you are anywhere else on my success scale but have dreams that have yet to manifest themselves, either because you are setting your goals to high (a perfectionist) or merely dipping your toe in the pool of passion for fear of messing up if you dive right in, then you are in most certainly Urinating Poison…or in for a nasty nasal operationor just finding it difficult to play the piano!!

Only joking…you are none of these things, you in fact a Junior Utopian in the pursuit of Senior Utopian status!!

Guest Blogging

Allowing guest blogging on your own site is a great way to give back to your readers and community.  It gives your readership some variety, can help build new long lasting relationships, can give your authority, gives you great credibility and my favourite…it leverages your time, so you can work on other activities.

I have been allowing guest blogging on my site for over 12 months now and I have had some great success. Some of my guest blog posts generate me a ton of traffic each month.  Anyone wishing to be a blogger here at Bethhewittonline can do so by registering to apply on the right hand side of my homepage and I would recommend the strategy to others.

However, if you do go down the guest blogging route there are some things that you need to consider.

Guest Bloggers – Who Are They!

When you get approached – be sure ‘who’ it is who is asking to be a guest blogger.  If you have been in the blogging world for some-time, you may have a good idea of who they are and how trustworthy they are.  99% of the time I would not have any concerns with anyone who was a member of the TSA.

Guest Blogger

If you have never heard about the person, find out as much about them as possible. Check out their own websites. If they don’t have one, alarm bells should start ringing.  Do a basic Google search on them and look at other content they have created.  Are they a serial guest blogger?

Guest Blogging Tip – Agree Blog Title and Blog Content

Before receiving the guest blog, agree on the blog title and what it will be about.  Ensure that it is congruent to your site and niche.  If you feel happy to do so, allow them to include do follow links to other sites, but again be sure to check these out.  It is important you do not affiliate yourself with something you would not usually be happy to do.

Edify your Guest Blogger

It is important that you can completely edify your guest blogger.  Your readers believe and trust in your content; if you include a guest blog from someone who is not of the upmost integrity you run the risk of doing yourself a disservice.  Ask them to include a short bio of themselves with picture.  Remember you are completely within your rights to ask them for samples of their other work.

It is important to introduce your guest blogger stating why they are worthy of reading and also to make it clear that this is not your content when your readers start to read your post.   At the end of the post I would include your guest blogs bio and picture and links to their blog if you agree to do that.

Guest Blogging Tip – Is the content original?

Sadly some guest bloggers are not who they say they are.  Please ensure that you read the post they have submitted in its entirety to be sure it is not spun and copied from elsewhere.  Some clever spinners can make content seem natural but you can normally spot spun material a mile off.

This is a real excerpt example of a post I had sent to me

“It doesn’t matter what you sell or what services you provide, it can’t promise you umpteenth traffic to your website, if its home page looks disastrous.”

Spun content will have really oddly used synonyms in place of original text so be on the lookout.  Overlooking this could have terrible consequences for your blog and the hard work you have put in to ranking you blogs pages on Google.

If anyone knows a free tool to check for spun content, please feel free to post it below in the comments section.  But doing a quick Google on some key sentences and headings in the post should give you some clues to where the post has been copied from (and how many times!)

I hope this has been helpful. I wouldn’t want any-ones blog to suffer because some guest bloggers are not completely reliable.  Stick to people you know and trust and you can t got far wrong.

Increase your sales and Increase customer retention!

This is a post from my heart.  I haven’t read any management style posts or corporate tosh on what makes a good leader.  Everything I write here is completely Beth-made, so take from it what you will.

Why am I writing this way? Well, I believe successful leaders don’t just follow the rules, they won’t follow the path that has been made by others.   They seek out their own path and walk the route less travelled.

Here are a few ways you can start to make yourself stand out from the crowd and start to attract and help create the leaders of tomorrow. (Whilst being a great leader in Network Marketing yourself.!!)

Listen More

Listening skills should really come with the territory when building your MLM. After all, you should be listening intently to your customers and working out whether you have the solution to their problem.

Where building teams and leaders is concerned you have to listen with different ears.  If you are going to be a success, you need to be able to help others also become a success and one of the best ways you can  do this, is to LISTEN.

Take the time to get to know your new team members.  Find out what makes them tick, and find out what their goals and aspirations are.  If they don’t have any, find out why and help them reach for the stars.  Find out about their hobbies and interests and listen, listen, listen.

Trust your Intuition

Have you ever felt like you were brought to this planet to be more than a puppet on a string, working the 9-5 and lining up in the queue of life to get what everyone else has, a 9 to 5 job, married with 2 kids, watching 3 hours of TV every day and having $3752 in debt.  Depressing isn’t it?

Or have you felt like me and always known that you came here to do so much more, only to have life throw you of course.  The moment I started trusting my intuition and being more in tune with my soul, I finally started experiencing life in much more extraordinary way.

Intuition can help you make sound decisions and make the most of opportunities that come your way and with practice and patience, you can use your intuition to seek out the leaders of tomorrow.  Soon you will know whether a prospect is worth pursuing or not.

Sometimes you will have a very strong feeling about someone and yet they might not jump at joining you in business straight away, but don’t be surprised if somewhere down the line they come in to your life again, either to do with your primary business or for some other joint venture.

When you know, you know and it’s usually when you have an extremely powerful connection with one another and just can’t put your finger on it.

Dare to Dream

Please don’t get caught up in the hype that joining an MLM or Network Marketing Company and duplicating what your sponsor tells you, will get you the life of your dreams.  (I am sorry if I burst any bubbles there.)  Whilst there are a small handful of successful network marketers that have made their wealth with one company and income stream alone, there are lots more who have diversified their incomes by creating, taking and dreaming up new opportunities as they go through life.

Leaders, (in my opinion) are people that never give up thinking about their next product, service, invention, business idea, joint venture etc.  Not only are leaders opportunity seekers, but they are also creative in the mechanics of business, that being, how to find new prospects, using new technology, training techniques the list goes on. So don’t just dream it, live it.

Be approachable

Just because you are going to become a Leader doesn’t mean you have to turn your back on people when you get to that level.  ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, be approachable.  Let people know it’s OK to contact you. Be available in as many different ways you can manage, whether on the phone, on Skype, on Facebook and twitter or by email.   Let people know that you are available and that you will always find the time for them.

If you are busy (and if you are going to be a leader you will be…so get ready!), make sure your prospects and customers get the acknowledgement that you will schedule some time for them and stick to your word. Lying Leaders are Lame!

Lead the Leaders of Tomorrow

Recently I took a different approach to Network Marketing.  Whilst selling products to potential customers and team members can work in helping build your business.  The best and fastest way to build your business is to recruit Leaders!

So how do you spot a leader? Well you might need to be working in the same circles as others with similar passions as yourself…but look out for these clues. A Leader is someone who:

• Is always busy
• Built a business from the ground up
• You consider to be a success
• Knows everyone
• Is a top sales person
• Has multiple streams of income
• Will stop at nothing to reach the top

Go after these people and you can never fail.  I hope you found my post interesting, I would love to know what you think makes a good leader.

To Your Success,

Once you are up and the kids are off to school, make sure you get straight into a working mode. This may sound silly but dress as if you are going in to the office or meeting important clients. You will feel better about your working day if you are dressed for the occasion. Wearing pyjamas and dressing gown will make you feel lazy and you will act in a less efficient manner.

Ensure you have had a sufficient breakfast. It is scientifically proven that people who eat a healthy breakfast will have higher levels of concentration and be able to get things done more effectively and quickly.

Have a set working time allowing times for breaks and lunch but don’t take liberties. For example, try to minimise mid-morning breaks to no more than 15 minutes and no more than an hour for lunch.

However tempting it may be, do not get sidetracked with housework and other chores that you would not be doing if you were in an office. Plan to do housework in the evenings, or before you start your working day.

Make sure that you have a comfortable working environment, an office away from the distractions of children, TV’s and radios is ideal but many people don’t have the money to have a separate office space. If this is the case ensure that you have enough space to work, with orderly files and room for other equipment obviously dependant on the type of work you are doing. Make sure on a weekend that you will have everything you need for your week at work; you do not want to be preoccupied with going to the shop and getting pens and paper at 11am on a Monday morning.

It is a good idea that you invest in a second telephone line dedicated to your business calls. Tell your friends and family not to contact you at home during the day. If it is an emergency, such as your children’s school phoning about a sick child then make sure they have your cell phone number, that way you will know that it is an emergency.

Make a list of things that need doing and stick too it. It may seem a bore to have a list but when you physically see things getting ticked off your list you will start to get a sense of confidence in your abilities.

Try to have targets to work towards, that way your workload will be worthwhile, make them small targets so that they are more attainable.

Don’t work yourself to death, you are allowed to have breaks but make sure they are at the allotted times. At the end of your day, tidy things away and make a to do list for tomorrow. Spend an hour or so quality time with your family before you even think about doing chores. That way, when you are working throughout the day you will be working towards your reward with the family or some other element of your life that you enjoy doing.

Remember not everyone is suited to working from home, if it is not for you then maybe consider some other place of work. However, if it is a necessity stick at it and keep to your routine.

Hopefully as your business grows you will be able to take more time doing what you want to do each day…but until then, its routine time!!

Probably one of my favourite features of skype, is how easy it is to hold three way calls (or more) with other members of your team, your upline, your downline, your prospects, you pretty much name it!

There are lots of benefits of holding three way calls with prospects these are some of my favourites:

• They allow prospects to feel part of a team/community right from word GO!
• Prospects can ask questions you might not be able to answer.
• Prospects get a different perspective from some else.
• You can mastermind and come up with creative ideas together.

Furthermore, Skype allows you to build unlimited groups of people in the same team, meaning if you are not about (especially if you are in different timezones) there will always be team members to answer questions, bounce ideas off,  to find out the latest news and to offer training and support.

I cannot stress how important communities are in building successful businesses. Skype is the perfect platform to do just that.

Personal Mentoring and Coaching

As well as the community and team environments Skype can provide.  It is also a fantastic tool to offer one on one coaching.  Take your time with new clients and prospects, teach people how to do something new. Screen share, share files and have fun.
